Product: Zipwake: 300 Series S Interceptor Kit.
O’Sullivans Beach Marina, South Australia
Slight 1.2m close swell with a SE breeze.
The only requirement of the Skipper was to
steer and operate engine throttle controls,
Zipwake took care of the rest.
Trialled at O’Sullivan’s Beach Marina, S.A., the buyer was
very impressed with the extremely smooth ride enhanced
by the system. When Auto was
engaged, the Skipper was
not required to revert back to
using the trim on
the leg or manual controls
to give the vessel a feeling
Idling through the calm
waters of the marina the
Zipwake system was set to
auto, on moving out the
Skipper was instructed to set
and maintain engine trim
at 60%, the vessel was then accelerated to 20 knots, once
above 8 knots the Zipwake interceptors dropped down
into place and the vessel proceeded on to the plane with
minimal bow lift. The skipper maintained the same speed
and proceeded to do turns into and across the swell with
the pitch and roll of the boat being instantly corrected by
the Zipwake interceptors.
The speed was then increased to 35 knots with the Zipwake
automatically retracting the Interceptors to around 20%,
keeping the roll to a minimum, this kept the boat at an
upright position allowing the hull to pierce the waves with
the ‘V’ of the vessel cutting directly into the wave, therefore
not presenting the flat area of the bow to the wave - making
for a great ride.

Imagine with the flick of a button, instantly
improving your boat’s responsiveness and
ability to provide a comfortable ride for
passengers - with the benefit of reduced fuel
usage and greater overall handling.
Launched in Australia over two years ago at
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Brisbane,
Zipwake has become a well known and reputable
trim control option, for those wanting a safer more
pleasant boating experience.
Originally designed in Sweden, Zipwake is a modular
Trim Control system, a unique design allowing for
any base installation to be expanded, catering to
a wide range of vessel types and sizes. Australian
Distributor AMI Group first saw Zipwake in action
at prestigious METS Amsterdam Show in 2014,
and seeing its potential, were excited to make the
product available to Australian customers. Since
the launch, Zipwake has exceeded expectation in
positive feedback from Shipwrights and owners alike,
and has been adopted by premier builders such as
Whittley Marine Group, as a premium fitout option
for their CR vessel range.
For most motor boat owners, trim can present a
significant issue when maneuvering or turning,
which the product counteracts five times faster than
a traditional system, requiring only 1.5 seconds to
actuate. As a result of the reduced drag and wake,
with the boat sitting higher in the water, fuel economy
Due to the nature of the system, (available in four
standard kit sizes) Zipwake been adopted by private
boat owners and commercial operators alike,
including use on high speed vessels during patrols.
“The Zipwake system has two main benefits, aimed at making
the driving of your boat as simple as possible. The tabs are
automatic, meaning, set and forget, ensuring your boat is level
whilst underway. The tabs also set themselves into the fully
down position whilst transitioning to and from the plane..I would
recommend the Zipwake system to customers looking at buying
a Whittley from our CR range.“
