crayfish and scallops just off-shore, or throw out a line for garfish,

If relaxing with a fishing line is your idea of heaven there are plenty
of jetties, once used as historic ports, to explore. Those at Wallaroo,
Port Hughes, Port Victoria, Moonta Bay, Stansbury and Edithburgh
provide some of the best catches around.
For those wanting to try a spot of beach fishing, Hillocks Drive and
Browns Beach yield great catches.
If fishing isn’t your thing, explore times gone by at one of the
Peninsula’s many fascinating heritage museums, hike through
untouched wilderness, taste the local wine at the region’s first
cellar door, or relax with a book under a beach umbrella.
Indulge in the chance to step back in time, and experience the
unique history and culture Yorke Peninsula has to offer. Absorb
yourself in the lives and stories of traditional Aboriginal owners of
the land and early European settlers.
The many sheltered and secluded bays of the Peninsula provide
calm swimming areas perfect for the family. Water sports enjoyed
by both locals and visitors alike include surfing, diving, windsurfing,
kayaking, snorkelling and more.
Along the southern coastline of the Peninsula, the beaches feature
ideal surfing conditions, with Pondalowie Bay hosting a major
surfing contest each October long weekend.
If you enjoy a diving experience, Yorke Peninsula has two
underwater Maritime Heritage Trails that provide excellent diving
opportunities for beginners and the experienced.
The Wardang Island Maritime Heritage trail, on the western coast,
has eight shipwrecks whilst the Investigator Strait Trail, on the
eastern coast, features 26 vessels.
